Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a primary health care system, complementary to other medical practices.
It is suitable for almost anyone and can contribute to the treatment and management of a wide range of conditions. Osteopaths primarily work through the neuro-musculo-skeletal system, mostly on muscles and joints, using holistic and patient-centred approaches.
Osteopathic treatment does not target the symptoms but looks at the whole body and tries to resolve the cause of the problem by attempting to restore your body's structural balance.
Osteopaths believe that by improving the structural balance of the body, the body will function better and therefore be healthier.
We create the perfect conditions for your body to encourage the healing process needed to overcome the problem.
The General Osteopathic Council's website states:
"Osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery. Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body's own healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring."
