Clinical Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy?

The only way to cure a problem is to find and correct the cause

HYPNOSIS is simply a natural state of relaxation that we all experience regularly: during daydreaming, falling asleep, reading a really good book, and 'automatic' driving when we suddenly realise that we haven't been aware of driving for the last ten minutes or so. During this state our conscious mind (the analytical, decision making part) relaxes, thereby allowing us to access the subconscious mind (our automatic part which controls our emotions, urges, imagination, experiences, memories and even our central nervous system).

However, no one can ever enter this state against their will, and no therapist can induce or maintain this state without constant co-operation and permission from the client. You are merely given easy clear instructions by the therapist. Although the conscious mind is relaxed, it is not asleep. It can jump in and interfere whenever you decide or feel it is necessary, because you are always consciously aware of what is going on.

For example, when you are drifting off to sleep and therefore in a state of hypnosis, you may hear the telephone ring but your conscious mind will likely decide it is not important, so you will remain relaxed. But if a fire alarm were to sound, you would likely jump to your feet and respond. You always have control of your mind and do not need to be 'brought out' of hypnosis.

Hypnotherapy takes you to the core of your emotions and beliefs. From here you can clear out any habits with undesirable results, and install new better ones. Hypnosis lets you resolve a hurt without having to see or re-feel it. Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to uncover and correct the cause of symptoms, enabling a complete and permanent solution.

Once the cause has been corrected, there is no need to treat the symptoms at all, as the subconscious will automatically correct the reactions and therefore dispose of the problem completely and permanently.

HYPNOTHERAPY is the therapeutic use of hypnosis. A hypnotherapist can induce this natural state to treat symptoms and problems, and this is often done by providing suggestions to the subconscious to suppress, change or manage the symptom. This method can provide temporary relief, but a better aim is to resolve your symptoms completely and permanently.

The reason for this is quite simple: consider for a moment the pain of a headache. A simple solution is to take a painkiller to relieve the pain. But if the headache returns then the pills are only working temporarily and you can begin to question what is causing it. The lesson here is that the painkiller merely suppresses the pain but it does not resolve what causes the headache.

Many hypnotherapists work in the same way as the pills. They suppress the symptom but do nothing to find out what caused it; thus the problem can return or, in certain cases, even worse symptoms may develop as a replacement.

This hypnotherapy is significantly different to other forms of hypnotherapy; by finding the root cause and resolving it, a permanent solution can be found - without the need for future back-up sessions. This integral approach aims to allow the patient to live the life they want, disposing of their problem completely and permanently.

During this form of treatment you will NOT be required to relive any traumatic event or experience any emotions. All you will feel is beautifully relaxed.
