The Feldendkrais Method
Watch an infant reach for a toy, a toddler's first enthusiastic steps, kids rolling down a hill. Chances are you can hardly remember a time when your own movement felt so free and effortless. Your movements and posture may be compromised by stress you barely notice. Or you may have chronic problems that affect your health and ability to function.

But you can learn to improve, regardless of your age or physical condition. The Feldenkrais Method helps you reconnect with your natural ability to move, using an exploratory process of learning we see in children.

Awareness Through Movement Lessons in Self-Help In Awareness Through Movement lessons, the Feldenkrais teacher verbally guides you through a sequence of movements in basic positions: sitting or lying on the floor, standing or sitting in a chair. The emphasis is on learning which movements work better and noticing the quality of these changes in your body. You learn to abandon habitual patterns and develop new alternatives. The subtle movements develop not only awareness but also flexibility and co-ordination.

After Awareness Through Movement lessons, people often feel taller and lighter, breathe more freely and find that their discomforts have eased. They experience relaxation and a sense of release. Best of all, the new learning stays with them and becomes part of their everyday living.

Functional Integration - Individual Practice - This one-to-one learning process is the most direct way of experiencing results with the Feldenkrais Method. Learning is communicated through slow, gentle touch as the practitioner guides you through a series of precise movements that relax tense areas. The movements alter habitual patterns and provide new information directly to the neuromuscular system.

Functional Integration is for anyone who needs to give attention to particular physical discomforts. It is especially useful for people with recurrent difficulties who want to learn to overcome limitation brought on by stress, misuse, accident or illness. And it is equally beneficial for people who just want to perform and feel better physically and mentally.

The Feldenkrais Method has been used successfully with tens of thousands of people worldwide. It helps you learn to move with minimum effort and maximum efficiency - not through muscular strength, but through becoming aware of how your body works
